Phillips Family Travels
Another early breakfast and we were on the bus at 8:30 leaving behind Hue for Hoi An. This involved a 3.5 hour coach ride. We left the main road to go up the pass the strides the mountains that split north and south Vietnam. Phi gave us a bit of a language lesson on the way where he tried to explain that most words have 5 different meanings depending on the tone you use when saying them. These are identified by the accents on the letter... Very interesting.... So the pass we went over was called the Hai Van Pass. We stopped at the top where there were stunning views down to Da Nang. This is an up and coming city with its stunning beaches, just right for a lot of tourist hotels, thankfully most have not been built yet. We stopped for lunch on the beach and had a swim. There was slight panic when some jelly fish passed by but they did not have a bad sting just a mild irritation. Then onto our hotel in Hoi An which is fabulous with a lovely pool... I think we got the best room as well which is great as we are staying 3 nights. Went on a city walk at about 4 which showed the old part of the city to be beautiful. Hoi An is known for its Taylor's so we have ordered a suit for me and a dress for Kate and even Mimi's prom dress for next year!!!! Very cost effective. A meal in the town centre which was lovely and a walk around the night market and then home to bed....
