We decide to have a relaxing day today not doing anything in particular except catching up on our journals. We got a bit peckish around lunch time so headed round the corner to Burger King. We both ordered a bacon and cheese beef burger with fries and a drink, i had iced tea. The burgers were lovely and tasted a lot better than the beef in the UK, i guess it's because the beef used in the burgers in south east asia is mainly imported from Australia. The burgers were a lot smaller in size compared to back home but i think it's for the best.
When we finished, Andrew and Toby walked in and said hi and then left after getting their food. I went in to order us an ice cream cone covered in chocolate which becomes hard so you have to bite it, quite a messy challenge as the ice cream was melting so quickly in the heat. After lunch, we took a walk around the block and back to the sleeveless t-shirt shop where Dan bought one, the same as mine but in a cream/beige colour. We headed to a tourist shop to book our bus for tomorrow to Mui Ne, we booked the 8:00am one so we wouldn't get there too late as the journey takes around five hours. We then went back to the room to clear up and pack all of our things.
For dinner we were reallyyyy cheeky and got a cab to McDonalds which was up by the river. When we arrived there were long rows of tables and chairs outside as if set up for a wedding reception. There was a young man stood outside with a desk who greeted us on arrival. He said we order with him and he pointed down to menus on the tables. I went for a deluxe chicken burger meal and dan had a big mac. We walked i side where our order was scanned at the door and we were directed over to the counter to pay and collect the food, a completely different approach used in the UK! We sat down and enjoyed our last McDonalds meal for a very long time.
We were going to go to
A few bars in the same area and finish off at a club called Apocalypse Now but instead, we got a cab back to the area of our hotel and went into the small bakery called "Paris baguette". Dan went in with the hope of them having pain au chocolat, which they didn't so we both got a jam danish each instead. We then walked over to Sozo and i got a slice of carrot cake and daniel went for lemon. The woman said to us when we left "see you tomorrow!" She recognises us from yesterday and the day before and the day before that but unfortunately we will no longer be in Ho Chih Minh City. We sat down on the pavement of a street cafe opposite our hotel and watched the busy street life move alone. There was a young boy juggling fire and eating it, he also had a small snake which he inserted through his nostril and our through his mouth, so wrong on so many levels. Once we finished our beers we headed up to the room to watch an episode of an idiot abroad and eat our desserts before we fell asleep.
