Milly and Katie's travel Journal!
We have just done our Fraser Island (largest sand island in the world) tour which was 2 nights and 3 days. We were meant to go on wednesday but we moved it forward to monday. We had an amazing time, although there are mozzies absolutely everywhere you go on the island and disscusting march flys which attack you! Anyway started the first day at 6.30am, got into our groups- we were with a couple who were 31 and 33!!! 2 other people in their 30's! then 2 Swiss girls our age, a guy our age and a Swedish girl who was 22!! We do get the best groups! Not the most fun people when it came to the evening seeing as they were mostly old! But anyway we had fun adn enjoyed ourselves joined in with other groups the second night!
The first day we went to Lake Wabby, abit of a hike up the sand dunes to get to it but it was beautiful, refresing swim although cat fish turned up so we got out! Wr also visited the famous ship wreck on the island but we cant remember what it is called, and we also went to Eli Creek, we had a nice wander along it! We then got to base camp and set up our tents. The one we put up wasn't very sturdy looking, but it did last the 2 nights without collapsing! There are so many massive spiders on the island, apparently they are not dangerous but by the way they looked we wouldn't go anywhere near them even if they were harmless! The second day it was raining unfortunately! We climbed the Indian Heads to look for dolphins and sharks, but we didn't see any! We had done eveything on the intinary by 12 so we decided to drive to the other side of the island, it was the most uncomfortable drive ever! Our bums were so num and our heads hurting from the bumpy drive! Driving inland was not fun and driving on the sand was exciting and mostly smooth!! That night we all went down to the beach but as it was raining still we left pretty early!
Third day it was beautiful weather again, we went to Lake Boomajin, which had orange water, then we went to Lake Birabeen, which was beautiful; white sands and clear blue water. We just relaxed in the lake for hours! We finished the trip at Lake Mckenzie which was just like lake birabeen, although the highlight of the day was finally seeing a wild dingo, roaming the carpark then joining us on the beach. But don't worry it didn't eat us!
Today is our last day in Hervey Bay, another lovely sunny day to relax! We spent the afternoon on the beach, the water was warm and calm so we just spent about an hour floating on our backs. Although Katie did ask Milly if she could float on her front!!!!!! (well yes you can but only unitl you run out of breath)!!
Hope you are all well adn not too cold in England!!!
