Hello all! We finally got to do our sailing trip! We came back from Magnetic Island on the wednesday expecting to be told that the sailing was cancelled and we would have to hang around till sunday. But luckily our boat was the only boat which was going out! We were told not to expect glorious weather and very rough conditions. There were only 8 other people on our boat and 4 crew, they were a nice group of people. First day on the yacht was very exciting, real sailing, wooshing along, although it was very wet, large swells and strong winds, but that all added to the excitment. We stoopped off at Pearl Bay to do some snorkelling, in our attractive stinger suits! We both really enjoyed that untill a massive moon fish stalked us and we couldnt get out of the water! We also saw some dolphins finally! Dont think they were bottle nose though! Katies first sighting of dolphins in the wild! The first night was not the most exciting, most people went to bed early on our baot and it was poring with rain so sitting outside was not much fun, but we had our goon with us! We woke up the next day after a rather rocky sleep to clear blue skies! The cyclone had moved away and we had nice weather for the remainder of our sailing! That day we went to Whitehaven beach, the most beautiful beach in the world! Clear waters and white sand, although to go swimming we had to put on the stinger suits again!! A nice afternoon on the beach was just what we needed! We then headed to the next night stop and sailed in the twilight watching the beautiful sunset! That night it was more exciting, clear skies covered with stars. Milly saw the milky way for the first time! Milly also learnt how to play poker and won! Well she was winning but gave up cos it would have gone on for ages and it was getting boring! Katie was going to attempt to play but was too confused! Our last day was good, a nice calm sail, although when Milly took to the helm she soaked everyone with one massive wave which went over the boat! Katie was not very happy, and did not trust her controling the boat! We sailed to Long Island and went to a resort there! Pool, spa, sauna and most importantly a bar in the pool with cocktails!! Milly got her pina colada and Katie tried a new one! Both very nice, by 11.30 we had had 3 cocktails! We admit we got a bit carried away and forgot all about being backpackers and just felt like we were on a nice holiday! Thats the way we like it! We were so lucky with the weather ans we were both so glad we chose to go on thursday, we got the fast exciting sailing then and the next 2 days we had the sun! We are off to magnetic island tomorrow for one night then off to mission beach if it is still there, but we dont know if we can stop there because the cyclone wrecked it.
