Well today was the day of my first ever snorkel... since Kimberley (a geordie who had chased me out here after hearing of my voyage) couldnt cope with the breathing technique and kept freaking out everytime she saw a little fish swim by, me and Tania went to explore life in the corals around Shelly Bay! Within seconds, it was like entering another secret world, full of schools of calamari, squid, 2-3 foot shark bait and even a few colourful parrot fish! I was astounded at how much lived, weaving in and out of our legs just a matter of metres out into the beach and how unmoved they were by our presence, carrying on with their everyday chores as if we werent even there and just another big fish! I'll never forget seeing this collosal grandfatehr fish guiding a school of around 50 small fish like a school trip around the corals! All in all a tremendous experience... even if i did get a bit nervous and nearly drown when a group of fluorescent blue fish darted at me from under a rock!
