Alyssa was nice enough to allow me to stay one more day, so I could get in a dive to see a new wreck they just sunk recently. We had to move to a place called Nasri 2, The floors were solid, so no creepy crawlers could come up through there. Which in fact they could come in from any other crack in the place or open window. But it seemed to make Alyssa a little happier, until she saw there was no bug net, but she bared it for me. And the massages and spas I have to treat her with at the next place. The beds were decent. Still no hot water or AC, but did have a more powerful fan and a toilet that properly flushed.
There actually weren't a lot of flying Mosquitos or flying bugs inside the chalets. But the few that we're there seemed to enjoy Alyssa's fair skin.
Lots of flys though throughout the village along the path and bars.
We met a lot of awesome people hanging around the dive shop, and the bar that was right out front of it. Which seemed to be a popular hang out.
The dive shop is called "b&j dive center". They are PADI certified and do lots of tech training and regular training.
The diving was fantastic. Especially since it was warm water diving and compared to wearing about 70lbs of gear in our cold waters of BC. I had on maybe 30lbs. No dry suit! Just shorts and a "rash shirt" to help from any scrapes and or scratches. The average temperature of the water, at a depth of around 60 feet was 25-27 degrees C
Their dive boats are basic but designed for diving. vs the other dive companies which had a speed boats to dive off of.
First day of diving, I saw tones of new New stuff, fish and nudibranchs coral. Everything was exciting for me. As described by a couple we became friends with, I was like a kid in a candy store. Swimming all over of the place, in and out of swim throughs, little caverns, wide eyed and so happy!
The next day, we went to a place called Labasa, which is a local favorite, full of tight spaces ad caves to swim through. I was in my glory! I saw my first Blue spotted sting ray! 3 of them! And a cuddle fish! The third dive I saw a massive turtle I followed for a bit. And giant clams!
The last day of diving I ended up doing only one dive and that was at the newly sunken wreck, they sunk a few months back. To a depth of around 100 feet. We couldn't spend much time. The visibility was just like in Vancouver, crappy. Inside the boat, the visibility was less than 3 feet. With all the sediment that was kicked up from all the other divers, you could barely see your way through it. Not much life on the ship yet. The wooden fishing boat that was near it though, despite its condition had a decent amount of life swimming around it.
All in all it was a good place to spend some time. A lot of great people. And Alyssa eventually started warming up to the place. But happy to leave it when we did.
