Hi Everyone! Apologies for not 'blogging' sooner but we have had a few glitches with uploading pictures etc, we are all systems go now so keep checking back for updates!
The 10 hour flight from the UK to San Franciso was made a little easier by free beer and as we were the honeymooners we received complementary champagne! The movies were cool and we also saw Iceland, Greenland and the Rockys from our window along with loads of huge icebergs, we tried to look out for polar bears but we were too high up!
We both absolutely love San Francisco, its so pretty, clean and friendly. We were so excited when we arrived, we changed and jumped straight on a tram, holding on for dear life whilst it was moving!!!! Straight to Fishermans Wharf to have a seafood dinner and say hello to all the sea lions that live there! We ate at Crab House on Pier 39, so amazing - the kind of place where you have to wear a bib to eat your dinner!! We enjoyed tasty crab chowder then Giant Crab legs and shrimp washed down with lots of white wine. Finished off with a 'smores' crepe which was unbelievable - think we have already put on of a couple of stone, you won't recognise us when we get back - rename us wayne and waynetta!!!
Tuesday 7th June
We ate our body weight for breakfast at Lori's diner pancakes, bacon, eggs the lot! We thought we should walk this off so we headed to Union Square to take in the sights where at Macys we were forced to stop for a quick beer and cocktail on the roof terrace where we saw the coolest sky wrting advertising. We then walked to Lombard street to see the crookedest street in San fran before heading over to pier33 for a hotdog lunch. Whilst having lunch we bumped into Ali and Eua Thom and the gang who are on a boys tour of the USA. Good to see faces we know and they all looked as though they were having a great time (we were too, Mike just forgot to smile in the photo). We then had a quick jet boat ride round the san fran bay before heading back up to Union square for a burger dinner and more drinks.
Wednesday 8th June
Early start to go get our bikes. We followed Marks tip and cycled across the golden gate bridge, seeing an eagle as we cycled, to Sauscilito. Sauscilito is an awsome litle coastal town where we enjoyed a seafood lunch before getting the ferry back to San Fran. We then hit Alcatraz where we had a fantasic tour of the island and all the cells. Did you know that families and children of the guards all lived there too in lovely little houses, thats why there are amazing gardens at Alcatraz, but it makes it even more spooky!!! For dinner we ate at Bubba Gump and then headed home after a long but rewarding day.
Now off to pick up the Mustang and drive on up to Yosemite for a couple of days hiking and camping, weather is great too!!!! xxxxx
