Las Vegas
Thursday 16th June
Very early start and reluctantly had to hand back our dear mustang at LAX airport - it was hard for Mike....
Arrived Las Vegas by midday, the heat hit us - it was lovely initially but it was a really dry, desert heat and you couldnt be outside for long at all - it reached 39 degrees which is hot for us!! No need to be outside as the Casinos have everything you need along with air conditioning!!!
Stayed at the Monte Carlo hotel with a strip view which was great! The room was massive and the first thing we did was order drinks to the room!! There is definately a more glamourous dress code here so we showered and changed in to appropriate Vegas outfits!!!
This place is unbelievalbe and completely crazy ... no clocks anywhere and no clear signs of how to get out!! Every hotel lobby has slot machines and roulette tables as far as the eye can see, we even had a McDonalds and Starbucks in our hotel lobby!!!! Rather than mess about with the roulette tables we stuck with the $1 slot machines so we couldnt lose too much money ... but I guess we couldn't win too much either!
We booked ourselves in to another celeb hangout - we ate out at 'Tao' in The Venetian hotel. The Kardashians were following us again but they stuck to the 'Paris' hotel! The Venetian is like Disney on steroids .... you can't imagine how ridiculous it is! There is a grand canal along with water and gondalas by reception!!! Dinner was amazing again, had far too much to eat...mikes coconut prawns almost sent him over the edge!!! We then gained access to the legendary nightclub - this is an example of how nightclubs should be back home! It was amazing but the cost of drinks was a bit steep - it was worth it for the people watching. The club also had a rooftop bar where you could chill by the pool in the balmy desert evening which we did while drinking mojitos and j&c's!!! Decided then to put $10 on black, made $30 then lost it so it was time for bed!!!
Friday 17th June
The Hangover .........Lie in, McDonalds for b'fast, and luckily wasnt so hot today so we went exploring for a bit. The pool at our hotel was cool, we witnessed crazy american teenagers at the pool party while we drank at the pool bar and when the coast was clear we jumped in the pool half cut and floated on the 'lazy river' on inflatable rubber rings. Another change for dinner and headed off along the strip. Decided tonight we should see a vegas show, a ticket stall on the strip offered cut price tickets so we opted for David Copperfield! From what we had seen on TV in the past we thought this would be a good option - he had previously walked through the great wall of china! This show was awful .... he must have some large tax bill to pay or something because anybody could do the illusions he was doing, he had obvously recently dyed his jet black hair and bought himself a new black shirt to make himself look modern but iti didnt work!!! When he claimed to make the 12 members of the audience dissapear as his final act we could see them walk off the stage at the back! Mike thinks he could do better tricks with a wooden spoon and a tea towel!
From here we wanted to check out the Bellagio ... again, this place is unbelievable and absolutely massive! About 3 times the size of our hotel, every hotel has its own shopping mall, this one is about the size of Braehead and is home to Louis Vuitton and Gucci! By the time we reached here it was around 1am and still hadnt had dinner, lots of places to choose from so we opted for the Bellagio Cafe and had steak and burritos ..... what else to do at 2am in Vegas!!! Decided to 'gamble' one last time - this time we one big! We put $1 on mikes rugby number red 12, we won $36!!!! This was a high for us and left it there ......
