We spent a few days in Vicksburg to break up the journey from New Orleans to Memphis. We stayed on the grounds of the oldest house in Vicksburg built by the Vick Family ages ago. The hotel - the McNutt House - was lovely - it was a suite with a full kitchen next door including laundry facilities (exciting stuff!!).
Vicksburg is a small town - pretty enough but not loads to do. The local museum was closed due to bad weather (about 5 snowflakes although very cold) and the only shop was a dodgy petrol station that sold tinned chicken and dumplings (hmmm). It gave us the opportunity to relax and mooch about a bit before heading onto Memphis which is exactly what we did. So, we wandered about the place, ate out at the local bar and grill (Duff's - where the staff and food were lovely) and tried the local's favourite place (not great - food average, service slow and virtually every man seemed to be wearing a cap - Mike felt very left out). At one point, we actually debated getting fried chicken from the dodgy gas and go (I still think it smelt good). After waiting 5 hours for the Greyhound to turn up and then a journey of 5 hours, we finally arrived in Memphis all shook up.

Rich Well that sounds exciting :-P Must actually be nice to go somewhere boring once in a while though, to give some contrast to the truly crazy places you've been. Speaking of truly crazy, I can't wait to hear about Memphis!
Celeste Hello, I have an idea, instead of getting a job when you get back you should make a novel out of your blogs! V entertaining, could be a best seller ;-). All sounds lovely, I am very jealous. We had a wonderful time at the wedding in Vegas snd Maldives and I think I may have the post wedding blues now. :-(. Oh well it's only 8 weeks till easter! Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip.
