Hey everyone mike writing again, thats why its a bit late. We are in Vienna for the night, just come from cesky krumlov but bek will tell u all about that im just writing about Prauge(i think thats how u spell it).
We arrived on friday the 30th after an 8 hour bus ride which wasnt as bad as it sounds went quite quickly. Got to the hostel at about 330 and checked in to our 4 person room. It was a really nice hostel, again, we've had some luck with them recently. Anyway it had a nice bar and restaurant and clean rooms and bathrooms, even had an indoor pool, water was freezing though even too cold to swim in with the temp outside about 30 which dosnt sound that bad but it seemed really hot so was a bit uncomfortable. We had a bit of a snooze and explored the hostel then went to an authentic Czeck restaurant near the hostel with the busabout people. Had a huge feed and a few beers for the equivelant of 15 euro for 2 of us so very cheap. We came back to the hostel with very full guts and had a few drinks and went to bed pretty early.
Next day we got up nice and early and went to meet Dan and Theresa from busabout also, at the train station along with Dan and Kate aswell, some of our other busabout mates. We were heading about an hour out of town to the human bone church but just missed the train so had about 2 hours to kill, So we went to the town centre and had a look at the astronomical clock which was built hundreds of years ago by some crazy man who after he made it stabbed his own eyes out because he thought it was so beatiful that he never wanted to ever see anything else, quite extreme but a cool clock and every hour the bell rings and a skeleton pulls on the rope and has a massive beer stein in his other hand, very interesting indeed. We eventually got our train and an hour later arrived in a small town which looked suspiciously similar to the one in hostel the movie, but anyway we walked about 15 minutes to the bone church which is an old church, 10th century i think, cant remember exactly, but it was fully decorated inside with human bones from 40,000 bodies which were people who had died in the plague and some rich impotant people buried under the church. It was very interesting, a little creepy but still worth a look. On the way back bek started to get a little hot on the train and some farmiliar red spots started to show up...... yep uz guessed it.......HIVES! So by the time we got to the town centre again they werent too bad but still not nice for her but we had organised to hire some paddle boats and go on the river for a while so we all went to hire them but we could only get a 6 person row boat so we got that anyway and all had a turn at being the rower, it was very cheap, like 1 euro each for an hour so we had a few drinks and floated round the river, was very nice and relaxing and we headed back at about 8. We got back to the hostel and were going to go out to this five story night club but beks hives were the worst weve ever seen them, they looked like they had blistered the skin and they were spreading really fast, keep n eye out for a photo of them in the next lot, so she was in no mood to go out so we tried to treat them with ice but the hostel bar had no ice so we had to use wet flannels, so after doin this for a while it was time for bed so we headed back up to the room.
The next day we slept in, well bek had a polarimine the night before and was out for about 12 hours so i took full advantage of the fact that she was still asleep in the morning till about 1130, so eventually we got up and went into the city to have a look at the little shops and markets cause untill then we hadnt really had the chance to just walk around and explore the city, so we did that for a while and walked over the main bridge and got some good photos of the town and the castle in the distance, we were going to go up but we had plans to meet there a bit later with Dan and Theresa so we came back to the hostel and bek had a little sleep cause she wasnt feelin too well. The 4 of us had dinner at the same place we went to on the first night, again it was cheap and very tasty, meat and potatoes is about all u can get and that suited me perfectly, so it was probably the best meals ive eaten for the whole trip in those few days. After that at about 930 we headed to the prague castle and because it was so late there was knowone else around and we got to explore the grounds and we got some great night photos of the castle and the city which u could see from the castle. We had a bottle of wine up there and just wandered around for a while, it was very nice, and good because we were just about the only people there. We missed the last tram back which was at just after midnight so after we waited for another till 1 and realised that we read the timetable wrong and one wasnt coming we had to get a taxi and got back to the hostel at about 2 in the morning and had to get up at 7 for the bus so that wasnt the best but we still made it. So the next morning we headed to Cesky Krumlov but ill leave that blog to bek, this one took long enough to write and i cant do 2 in a row so stay tuned.
Hope all is going well for everyone at home and the winter weather isnt gettin uz down, dont worry the last few days have been raining here so we havnt had it much better. We will be in touch soon.
Mike and Bek.
