Hi Everyone,
Its Bek here we have just arrived from Cesky Krumlov to Salzburg via Vienna. I will write about Salzburg later in the next few days but for now I have to tell you all abou my favourite place in Europe so far...Cesky..
If they had an I Heart Cesky shirt I would buy 100! this little village or town has the population of 14,000 people. This is an amazing placewhere 2 nights just wasnt enough. It is so cute and medieval but also just like out of a fairy tale. I will try and get the photos up as fast as possi ble and you will know just what I am talking about.
So Mike and I enjoyed our short bus ride from Prague and arrived half way through the day. At the time I was fighting off a horrible cold so we enjoyed a nice afternoon nap in our 'orphanage beds'. These beds were supposed to be a double bed but it appreaded we got our lines crossed and ended up with two tiny beds and I could have sworn that there was bed bugs in there. Mum I would have loved to have seen your face with the sight of these bedsheets!!
Anyway enough of that, after our nap we went out to explore the pretty little city. We climbed a giant steep hill up to Krumlov Castle that sits above the village. To our suprise there was two giant griyyly bears in these motes around teh castle!!After a big walk we found the most amazing breathtaking views of the cutest city ever. Cesky is surounded by a circular river with bridges connecting to the cobble stoned streets of white houses with matching roof tops (wait until you see the photos). After we took our 'postcard shots' we went on a walk into the royal gardens and enjoyed the beautiful weather.
That evening we went and met up with Dan and Theresa and Dan and Kate and went to enjoy dinner at the Dungeon....this is Mikes idea of heaven. This is a medieval restaurant that is suprise suprise located in an old dungeon. The menu is basically meat, meat and more meat. The waiters are dressed up as peasants and teh candle light makes it a truly unique experience. We ordered a bohemiam feast that came out on giant chopping boards with around 6 types of meat so we certainly got our iron for the entire trip in one sitting. After dinner we went and got some pretty night shots and then went off for an early nights sleep.
The next morning we got up early to head off for some river rafting. The idea is to go around the circular river on ceskz and stop off at restaurants and bars along the way. Tehre was six of us and we all dressed up as pirates and set off on the water to conqour the rapids and bars...we enjoyed yelling out to fellow tourists on the bridges 'ahoy' which is actually the greeting in czech for hello!!! and acting like pirates...it sounds geeky but was great fun. The weather turned sour about an hour into the journey......it dampended the mood of some of our crew.I wont mention any names (Mike). At one of the first breweries we stopped at we managed to explain to the barman that we wanted to purchase off him some garbage bags to wear as ponchos ...he got the idea and laughed at us stupid tourists. After this brewery and our first beer we went out to set sail again and discovered that our boat had gone missing. Panic set in...we first thought to blame the boy scouts....or perhaps it was other pirates?? but no...our raft had just been mistaken for someone elses and we luckly got it back and continued our adventure down stream where we stopped not long after for a sit around a camp fire and a bratworst in a bun...after we had dried off the sun came out and we enjoyed the rest of teh afternoon in the sunshine until we discovered our last rapid was a steep waterfall that we managed to almost flip the boat in and got entirelz drenched. all up it was such a great day and a good laugh.
that evening we met up again for dinner and drinks with our fellow pirates. it was sad to say goodbye for the final time to our friends as we were continuing on without them. We will hopefully run into Dan and Theresa again sometime though as thez are also regular visitors to Bali!!
We then went on to Vienna but only stayed a night where we managed to do some washing...14 euros later mind you! and I got togehre with some of the girls and had a girls night with hair colouring and painting of the nails! Mike amde some friends at the bar so he was happy as well.
Anyway thats it for now! gotta get off to bed.
lots of love and miss you all
bek and mike
