Hi all,
I'd arranged to meet Amy (who I met in Malasyia, then Borneo and Thailand) on Kho Chang as she had flown to Thailand on Wednesday the 7th March. Thus our decision to stay on Lonely Beach in Nature Resort in particular. What a decision, thanks Amy as it was quality. A lot more touristy than Kho Mak but where wouldn't have been?....! It was a lovely strip of beach and Nature Resort had lots of character with an amazing BBQ fish restaurant at night, viberant bar, big TV for the football (you've got to laugh bro - 3-1 up at half time), internet and massage facilities and an impressive fire show on the beach at night.
Amy didn't seem to be around for the first couple of days so we chilled out and relaxed on the beach for two days. It was really nice and the sea beautiful, clear and warm. I'm not sure if I've missed out on a female fashion craze but there did seen to be a liking for the THONG bikini on the island. There was a particular young english lady that was always sunbathing in the near vacinity of Becki and I. I hand across heart didn't notice this until Becki pointed her out (yeah right...!) to me and she was quickly nicknamed the bum. And oh boy, it was a nice bum.......! mmmmmm
It was late on the second night that Amy arrived and it was great to see her. After her boyfriend had spat his dummy out and she finally had found him again, we had a good catch up in the bar. It was pretty strange as Amy has used Kho Chang as a base for her previous travels and I'd seen lots of the pictures and so many of the staff I had recognised. Now I was being introduced to them and they were all really cool. I can see why Amy goes back and stays for months at a time (lazy so-n-so). Good luck with the dive masters.
The next day we hired a moped and investigated the rest of the island. There was some nice views and stretches of beach but I really thinking that Lonely Beach was the best of what we saw. However, the moped adventure ended in tragedy with a flat tyre. Back one I would like to add...! So pleased that Amy recommended Lonely Beach to us. Late that afternoon we met up with Amy again and visited One, one of Amy's Thai friends that we had been introduced to the night before. One is one of the nicest guy's you will ever meet but has got a decorated past. I won't go into it but it makes for one hell of a story when I get home and how we all laughed the night before. It was now time to have a Bamboo Tattoo.....! When we arrived it was interesting to discover that One's dad had inked Angelina (the lips) Jolie about five years previously - nice to know please see pictures. It was a really interesting process the old bamboo tattooing and didn't hurt at all. Well, a lot less than a tattoo gun anyway.
With only a week or so in Thailand left it was to the fish BBQ for an fantastic squid feast (for the third night running). A whole squid, baked potato, a whole corn on the cob, salad and garlic bread - beautiful for a meer two pounds. It just had to be done!
It was again a day on the beach before we had to get the taxi to the pier to return to the mainland and then Bangkok in a taxi. This would be the same as getting a taxi from Manchester to Norwich but it cost five quid rather than five hundred. I really loved Kho Chang and what an eight days it had been. Thailand and Southeast Asia is coming to an end but not before I visit Phi Phi it's not....!
Bye for now
