Miffy's Mischievous Adventures
Hi again
I said my goodbyes to Colin and headed for the bus at 06:30 in the morning. 14 hours later, three minibus changes, boarder crossing, one 15 minute toilet stop and a ferry ride and I arrived in Penang, Malaysia. This journey was a monster and I was so cramped, in agony and just counting down every 4 hours until I could take another 1000mg of pain killer. Luckily I didn't bump into another westerner for the hole journey as it was so pain to open my month!
I had emailed Cyrina to say that I was going to be in town and we were planning to meet in a hostel in Chinatown. So on arrival I wondered off into the streets on Penang in search of love lane the popular backpacker area. Unknown to me the hostel had changed its name! But luckily I bumped into Cyrina fairly quickly. We stayed in a place called 75 travellers lodge and it was a proper hostel and how I imagined them to be before going traveling. A room with a bed and a fan and nothing else. Shared shower and toilets with a really friendly atmosphere. This was exactly what this hostel was which was brilliant and it also cost approx a pound fifty. So I dropped off my bags and went straight down to little India to grab a curry as I'd had nothing to eat.
The next days artinary was to find a dentist, do some laundry and explore Penang. The dentists was fine and I had an infected wisdom tooth that was cutting through. The dentist said "it must be really really painful" (no sh*t sherlock!) and gave me antibiotics, pain killers and some special mouth wash and informed me that as soon as I get to the UK, I must have it removed. Well, what ever was in those pain killers was a quality drop of gear. I couldn't feel my face let alone my tooth for two hours after taking them. Cheers doc!
We explored Chinatown, Little India and the Banking district of Penang but to be honest, on investigation there wasn't really anything that I wanted to do in Penang. Also the draw of the beautiful Perhentian Islands and diving was eating away at me. So we booked an over night bus and ferry to take us to the Perhentian Island of Kecil. But before we left Penang we visited this six story shopping mall and I fell in love with some Police sunglasses. Without even trying I had got him down to one hundred pounds for them. So, if any one out there wishes to sponsor me to buy these sunnies, please send all cheques to mamma simmons and payable to me. The hair is shockingly bad so any to make me look a bit more stylist would be a good think! Thanks for listening.
The coach was excellent and the best coach I had every been on. It was a 24 seater and it only had eight of us on it. It was time to sleep and wake up on the other side of Malaysia.
Bye for now
