ROADTRIP!!!!
We picked up our car on Thursday morning. The lads had originally wanted a big 4x4 but it was going to work out really expensive so we got a Kia people carrier instead! It turned out to be a lot better as there was loads of room and we had packed picnic food etc for the trip so needed a lot of room!
Ste and Si had met a guy at the hostel who lives half way between Sydney and Melbourne so he said we could stay with him on Thursday night! I came armed with a list of all the hostels in Melbourne and was constantly ringing them but none had spaces. we found somewhere for the Friday night but Saturday was looking like sleeping in the car...
We stopped off in Canberra on the way to have a picnic and look at the Parliament buildings. There really is nothing to do in canberra and if we hadnt been passing it directly we wouldn't have bothered going, but there was a nice picnic area and now we can tick it off our list!
We got to ste and Si's friend matt's house at about 6pm. Had some pasta and just watched TV. Matt gave up his bed for me and Gem which was nice, and the house was lovely so we really landed on our feet. He lives in a place called Cootamundra which is literally in the middle of nowhere. He pays 15 pounds a night for the house and hasnt even paid that yet, and is working as a phsiotherapist, so his life is so cheap. But i think he was glad of the company as there is literally NOTHING to do there! Australia and Australians gets very strange and a bit backwards when you get into the smaller towns.
