Set off for Airlie beach on an overnight bus from Hervey bay to start the Whitsunday islands. Arrived at 9am and went for breakfast, then just chilled out for the day until danni met us that evening...was lovely to see her again and completes the uni reunion pretty much. Next day we hung about until 1pm until we had to meet at the docks to get on the boat. As there were four of us we got our own cabin with ensuite which was great!
The first day we just chilled out on the boat and were dropped off at a place calle tounge bay to sunbathe for a while. The people on the boat arent as cool as the ones on Fraser and everyone kind of sticks in their little groups but that might change once the drinks start flowing.
That night we docked up and were served bbq'd fish with mash potato which was lovely. Then everyone heading on top deck and started drinking. we started a drinking card game off and soon there was about 20 of us including some nice Irish lads who hadnt really been very chatty until then. Got to bed about 1am. Danni had gone before us as she was feeling a bit sea sick.
The next mornign we were woken up at 7am for breakfast of fruit, toast and cereal. then it was pretty much straight onto the beach for about 8:30am. It was Whitehaven beach which is supposed to be the 4th most photgraphed place in Australia. It was absolutely gorgeous and the sea was really really warm. we stayed there till about 11 and then got back on the boat for snokerling and diving. But when we got back on gemma noticed she had little spots all over her body. We went to the captain who said it was either sand flies or bed bugs, they were really itchy and doing her head in so the captain smothered her in camomile lotion and sent her on her way. We had another gorgeous meal prepared by the french chef lo. Pasta salads, sandwiches, crisps, cheese everything. Then she brought out crips and dips later on and cookies and fruit, and then about an hour after that we had spaghetti bolognaise for tea.
gem headed off to bed as she didnt feel very well but the rest of us stayed up and watched wild dolphins that came up to the boat and then played drinking games with the crew. which consisted of getting an empty wine box putting it on the floor and then picking it up with your teeth without puttin your hands down. if you fell over or put your hands down you had 10 seconds to pick it up or you got hit with a fin. I managed to do it until it was a flat piece of cardboard on the floor but dropped it at the last minute (and also gave myself a slight groin strain) so i just took my beating. We were again in bed by about 1am and up again the next morning at 7 for breakfast.
On our final day we went snorkeling again before having a sandwich for lunch and docking at about 1pm.
We spent the rest of the day around the man made lagoon in Airlie beach (which is gorgeous) and then went to the post boat party in town. Again met up with the irish lads and stayed out till about 3am. Danni had planned to go back to Bowen that night but she found out she had sunday off so stayed with us which was nice.
