Early arrival to a fairly cool Melbourne. I was here for a few days last year and this time, I met Trish, a friend I met on the Serenade of the Seas last June. We had arranged to meet outside the port at 9:30 and amazingly I was in the right place at the right time. So was Trish, in fact she'd been there since 7:30, but hadn't put my number in her mobile.
We went to Geelong (jelong, don't you know!). Her satnav took us on a long route that was about 90 minutes. When we were there, we went to a brewery called Little Creatures for lunch. We had missed the brewery tour by an hour, but we were allowed on the beer tasting part. I ended up buying a six pack of Furphy. We ate in the brewery, and very nice it was too. The weather was much nicer by midday.
After that we wandered along the sea front and a pier. I had a short shopping list I wanted to fulfil if possible. I managed to buy insoles (don't ask) and shorts, but not a wine box or grey trousers, apparently everyone in Australia is six foot tall! I also bought a couple of t-shirts.
We then drove back a different way, which means that it took under an hour to get back. A good port day indeed.
After dinner Phil and Yvonne went to bed but the rest of us took part in the Musicals Quiz. Yet another bottle of wine won. That's 30 so far, 9 of which are in our store (well 3 different cabins, actually) waiting for formal nights. One of the waitresses said to me 'You always win', not quite true but it seems that way.
There's a distinct movement of the ship tonight, I hope it doesn't mean poor weather tomorrow in Tasmania.
