On my world cruise 2 years ago Ponta Delgada was the first port of call, on this cruise it's the last.
We, all six, took an open topped bus for an hour's tour of Ponta Delgada. Then after a coffee Rob, Linda, Barbara and I strolled to Campo S. Francisco and then on to to Jose de Campo Gardens. Then it was back to the ship via a bar! The Azores are really cheap, three large beers, one small beer, three toasties and one sandwich came to less than €20.
I then paid my last visit to the laundrette before the final sailaway. Barbara had a half bottle of champagne for reaching Caribbean level of the loyalty club, so we drank it at the sailaway. I hit that level at the end of this cruise, so should get my bottle in July when I cruise on Britannia.
There was supposed to be a quiz at 21:30, but Michael Mullane, the world's worst Cruise Director had made a mistake and the F1 Grand Prix was scheduled to be shown at the same time in the same place. So over fifty people had to give way to about 10 for a race that everyone knew Hamilton had won! He never had the balls to come and apologise.
At 22:30 we didn't take part in the Syndicate Quiz as the deck quoits people had a party in Masquerade's. It was good fun. All in all a good last port day.
