Got up at 10:00 good job as Annie slept in! We'd slept through snooze three times, I spoke to annie, and yet again she has no recollection! Sleepy head! :/
Went for breakfast a street down from Love Lane, the only restaurant open at this time! Just had egg and ham toasted sandwiches but without the ham, so annie ate that thinking it was hers! Then Annie's meal came which I then had to eat, two dry prices of bread with a tomato... Lucky me!
Tbf though cant complain when he gave us the best iced coffee since being in Asia! Hazelnut! Mmmm..
Caught the bus on the street, the bus stop is is a stop sign hung from a clothes hanger and a peg! We got off at the largest Buddhist temple in SEAsia!
It's set on a hill which is less than ideal when you have to trek up 69 million stairs in 90% humidity and its 30'c! We stopped half way at a turtle pond with a pergola in the middle were you can throw them food! The baby ones are so cute! Il steal one later!
When we finally got to the top we were too tired to even care where we were, saw some bricks, saw some holy shrine, seen it all before! Jokes it's only because I'm now 3 weeks behind on my blogs that I'm writing this in a super rush! No fuss, no humour just straight to point!
*add own humour were applicable*
They had the Astrology signs as statues at the top all leading up to the walkway of the temple! Took a photo of Annie with the monkey, looks real cute... Got a photo of me with my stupid sheep! It didn't even have a tail, such a lame animal to have!
After the temple got on another bus to Penang hill! Its over 800 metres high, i was dreading more stairs! Fear not though, there was a monorail going up-to it! It goes practically vertical, it's so steep! You drop something on the floor on this train, it's gone forever!
On the way up We saw practically every bird that we saw in bird park, just wildly flying around the forest! They look georgous, the scenery here is amazing, should've saved my money!
And theres Wifi 800mtres up a mountain in Malaysia and it works better than in our hotel! So we took the time to sit on a curb outside the restaurant that was supplying it! Il never take wifi for granted ever again when I get home! It's like treasured gold to me right now!
Certain countries here block social networking so some iPhone apps don't work and you can't connect to some countries! This island cuts off most communication to anywhere so no Facebook, twitter, Skype or email! My only means of communication! This is more stressful than it sounds! I don't have the time to be sending a message in a bottle!
We saw an old decrepit church at the top and a muslim worshipping pagoda thingy! Everything else was lots of the same thing like a mini bird park and flower garden so not a lot to see up here as we've done that in KL!
Next we wanted to see national park, its not far from out hotel and we figured there would be more to see here than just going to another temple! Got on a bus back to jetty bus station which took 45 minutes and from there had to walk around even more to ATM and to get food, everything is such a task!
Then 1hour and 15 bum numbing minutes we were sat on the freezing cold bus to national park! We were on it so long it started getting dark and we were stuck in traffic! There was a Chinese all girls school just finishing and every single one of the 600+ girls looked identical! Exactly the same one-length bob cut and blue uniform! Looked more like army!
When we finally got to National park, it was worth it! So many Asians come here to jog and excercise and i don't blame them! Monkeys swing from the trees and the only noise i could hear was birds and crickets chirping! Again more ponds, and orchid gardens and nice cool temperature at dusk! We got well into it and started jogging around for a while too, until we got spotted by three guys jogging towards us... :/
We then sat and waited an hour for the last bus in the cold dark rain, surrounded by forest monsters! The park shuts at 9, it was getting closer to 8:30 and everyone had left! Then the chirps got louder and louder until we realised we were stranded in the middle of a protected forest in the pitch black alone! And we leave tomorrow...! :/
A bus finally came and it only took 30 minutes to get back, thats how bad traffic was! We were starving, tired and cold bless us so we carried on walking in the rain to Red China for tea! We had Japanese again but from a BBQ stand, i had japanese chicken skewers with egg beans and rice! And I tried my first mushroom! They're actually not that bad they're just too squishy! We also got a large fresh apple juice which is like a 30,0000 ltre tub full for just £1! Loads of travellers tonight, they can get out of my way! They make it too busy so was hardly any seats left, the waiter sat us on a table with a random fat Indian guy! Awkward when he watched us eat every last mouthful and didn't speak a word!
Walked home and showered in the freezing cold cockroach room again! I sometimes wonder if I should just go without a shower, maybe it would be cleaner than stepping into chlamydia central whilst butt naked!
Went straight to sleep after that though at around 10:00pm!! This is a first not just in Asia but in life!
