Made it to Moscow! What a ride in between though. All day tuesday it rained, actually it rained quite a bit on monday too. But tuesday, i woke up and got out of my tent in the rain, rode all day in it, then set up camp again in it! There was different kinds of rain but all of it wet. Still managed to cover about 330km which i was quite happy with, but the roads were pretty hectic. The russian drivers are crazy and they crash a lot. I saw half a dozen crashes between Kazan and here including one fatality with an unfortunante bloke lying on the side of the road, his car t-boned and a t-shirt covering his face. Shook me up a bit especially given the protection offered to me by thin air! In the middle of the rainstorm though i stopped at a servo and was taken in by the caretaker there for tea and bikkies, not english style but russian style. It was great to warm up for a bit.
I arrived into the centre of oscow yesterday evening and rode straight up to St Bazils cathedral, parked next to it and tokk some pictures. Found a telephone at a random ofice nearby and called Anton, a friend of Alexey's from Vladivostok, and he gave me gps cords to his apartment. It took me a while to get there as i only had a bearing line to go by and no road map but finally made it. Another biker saw me and took me under his wing finally calling Anton to meet up with him, where i stayed last night. So, the bike is now parked safely with work planned on it thisevening, and i am off to see the sights of this city. Dunno what there is to see, im not the best at researching places before i get there, im sure something interesting will poke its head up, or some adventures will unfold. Cant wait!
By the way Shustrik, thanks for contacting Anton for me!!! He and his wife are fantastic!
