Dear diary,
Well, that train journey didn't exactly go to plan!!
The cabin we were in was so small that I'm not sure exactly how they got 6 people into it, but somehow we managed. Chris, LLoyd & I got ourselves some beers at the station & I'm not sure if out of happiness for the amount we got, but some fella tried to kiss me..!!!!!
Crashed out about 1am, after having tried some of the train snacks (Vietnamese pot noodle of all things!!) & awoke at 8am, just a couple of hours from Hue.!!
At 10.30 we stopped at a local station 20km from Hue due to the track ahead being flooded. The info being provided was limited to say the least & we couldn't get of the train. After a walk up & down the train, bumped into a couple of other people who had travelled from Hanoi, so eventually (3.30 pm), we got our stuff & made them let us off. We had no idea where we were or how we were going to get to Hue, but turned out ok, as 5 minutes from getting off train we found a taxi that took us.
Arrived in (a flooded) Hue about 4.30pm, checked into hotel & had a wander about. There had some amazing shops selling beautiful pictures & some amazing clothes. Was a real shame that I didn't have either more time or a bigger budget while there, will have to go back at some point!
A group of us went to a bar for some food & drinks & had a really good laugh with the locals that worked there. Got taught a bit more Vietamese (you are beautiful, I love you (very much) etc). Not sure when this will come in handy, but was a really great night.
Went on a half day moped tour of Hue in the morning, which installed my need to go back & spend much more time there.
Got a bus from Hue to Hoi An at 1.30pm
