MeznG. In the air, on the road, river or sea again
We were somewhat surprised to wake up at 9am, lucky it's a sea day. We go straight to breakfast in the dining room and even though we are at a table for 2 there is an English couple at the next table with whom we have some conversation. It's amazing the number of people on this ship that have done this cruise before, but it works well for us because we can ask the what we should see and do on the different islands. We have our day planned out from the Princess Patter. First up is an information session about shopping in St Thomas ( our port of call tomorrow) This went much longer than we anticipated so we returned to our room to shower before a light lunch in the bistro. At the Seaview bar there was a Flare Demonstration where the 3 bar men showed their theatrical cocktail making skills. The cocktails were then given away and I scored a mango one which was yum and even better as it was free. By now it's 3 o'clock and happy hour at the Crooners Bar. You buy one drink and get the second for $1. The catch, your second drink is the same as the first so it's 2 beers for Glenn and 2 Long Island Ice Teas for me! We are joined by 2 American couples who have cruised this area many times. They live in Florida and cruise out of Ft Lauderdale as it doesn't involve and flying. It's an interesting afternoon topped off by a chat on the outside back deck with a "young couple" celebrating their 25th anniversary, they too have cruised here before. Tonight is formal night so we freshen up and put on our good clobber, go to the early show, watch the champagne fountain toast and head to the dining room where enjoy another interesting event with couples from Canada and California. Such interesting, stimulating conversations covering all things from travel, religion, politics and even brothels! On the way back to our room we watch some couples doing ballroom dancing in the piazza. Some black tie and very formal gowns are on display along with some very interesting dancing styles. St Thomas is our Port of call tomorrow.
