Saturday we left to hike Mt Bethel to meet our 5,000 foot elevation/6 hour hike requirement. Unfortunately when we got there the trail was poorly marked and very muddy, so we aborted this hike (after 1.5 miles - 3 miles total) and drove an hour away and hiked Mt Evans (a 14er). Back in CO to hike this week. We hiked the King Lake Trail outside of Eldora. Our hike was just over 12 miles and we completed it in 6 hours and 40 minutes. We made it back to the car right as the rain started!This was a very pretty hike, probably the prettiest one with tons of wildflowers. It was a bit windy and cool at the lake, otherwise the day was beautiful!

We hiked in the Golden Gate Canyon State Park yesterday. Our hike was 6.7 miles, gained 1800 ft elevation in 4 hours. We hiked the Burro trail (lollipop, which means is was a loop) including the Windy Peak Spur.Very pretty place. Photos are not as vibrant because it was cloudy most of the time. We got a little wet with a thunderstorm that rolled in in the last 1.5 miles of our hike. Fortunately we make it back to the tree line before the lightning really started.

This week's hike at Heart Lake/Rogers Pass 10.7 miles in 7 hours 25 minutes 2500 ft elevation gain. This is the only hike that we have done before and this was our third year in a row hiking this trail, but my first year making it to the top! This weeks hike was Climbing for Rhinos hike with folks from the Denver Zoo. This is a fund raiser for the conservation of Rhinos. It was great to hike with others and we attempted to conquer a 14er.
