Good evening from hanoi , hopefully this will be my last time here as its very hectic and rains allot ! Got here on the 29th of October flew in from luang Prabang which was all good . I booked a free pick up from My hotel , The Old Strret Hotel which wasnt there, eventually got to the Old Quarter which is narrow streets and even narrower houses loads of bikes cyclos taxis pedestrians etc extremely full on after Laos, Anyway the hotel was good and got myself together and went for a wander around and soon found a place for a G and T , my first since leaving the uk ! bloody lovely so i had two !. Went to a place calledLe Pub and struck upa conversation with some people and had a smashin time. Only problem was finding my way back in the labyrinth of streets , ended up getting a Xe Om (motorbike taxi) which basically took me around the corner and over charged me oh well a comfy bed was all i cared about. Then it strated raining !, a trip to the perfume pagoda was made in vain and i sat for 2 and half hours on a rowing boat in the pooring rain so that was s***, next day i decide to go to Sa Pa which was supposidly away from the rain in the north in the mountains,. Took a night train so couldnt see the rain at least. Sa Pa is very high and covered in mist . Thats it . Came back from Sa Pa via a nighttrain was delayed while on the train for 10 hours. Just come back from Halong Bay and Cat Ba Island which was better but dont know that im really feeling Vietnam. I must say though the floods have been the worst here in 35 years and the locals really get on with it , the whole of Hanoi floodeed and i meen waist deep and they just keep going on to work etc if that was England everything would stop for months , even the train plodded through eventually . On the other hand there is no reason for a human to eat a dog , so im off to Hoi An and then i think im out of here.lots of love x
