Hi , made it down the Mekong .It was a bit of a long old jog i can tell you. Stayed in Huay Xai for one night at Boom House and got woke up at 4am and 5am by bus loads of falang all bloody shouting and wooping so didnt get much kip but no worries. Up early and down to the dock bundled onto a long tail boat and straight over the river into Loas with much sweating and confusion got through customs and up the slip way to wait to be bundled into a tuk tuk and onto the ferry dock ,we were then given a breif on how slow uncomfortable and crowded the boat was and did we want to take the 8 hr bus instead ! I stayed resolute and off to the boat a few of us still went.Had to actually carry my rucksack for the first time was very heavy and had to fairy step the gangplank while others simply leapt like worldy traveled ballerinas. Loads of jungle loads of bamboo villages carved into the jungle, BUT no animals or bisds in the forest apparently all hunted and eaten which is really depressing actually after 7 hours and two engine breakdowns made it to Pak Beng our over night stop off , saw the hugest beetle ever like you would see in the natural history museum ! fantastic. Shared a room with an aussie chick Lee, even more uncomfortable mattress than before. Next day back on boat ,but we got really lucky and got a new one with luxury seats what a result , still 9 hours later i was very happy to be stepping off it. Luang Prabang is beautifull X
