So while Stu watched Casino Royale and got his first glimpse of Prague, mel went to see Kylie. The show was amazing and had a guest appearance from - Danii (first time since 1987!!) All very exciting for Mel who is secretly a kylie fan (or not so secretly if you have been to Chester and seen the poster on her wall!).
The day after Kylie we went to the nieghbours quiz night and because we were so keen managed to get the front table! Our table of all girls and stu did not do well in the quiz but did win the dancing contest and singing contest. Dr Karl's band is in the UK - very rude - however we did get to meet (in a rather rushed and organised fashion) Toadie, Lyn Scully (who was terrified of the whole evening) and jelly-belly Harold. Despite being told no autographs Mel managed to get the nieghbours anniversary book signed by Toadie and Harold! She had a nice (short) chat with Lyn who is leaving to star in Miller's All my sons - not sure if it is a step up or not!!!!!!!!
We have had three days around Melbourne and been to the crown casino (just to look at the foyer and the xmas decs!), Captain Cook's cottage, the old gaol, the shopping centre which is built around the old shot factory and to preserve it they have just put it in a big glass sphere!, the Queen Victoria markets and met up with wendy, laura and alex who we met in NZ. We visited an exhibition by the river called earth from above which was beautiful images of earth from above! We also bought a giant watermelon sweet for $1 which we do not know what we are going to do with as we cant eat it all!
Yesterday we went on a day trip down the great ocean road. This is the same as us deciding to drive from southampton to manchester and back for the day! So much was spent on the bus! We drove past a footballers house who has a giant pamela anderson face on the front, the vegemite factory, an echidna, Bells beach where the day before there had been a shark attack, the round the twist lighthouse (tell boot because we loved this programme!). However we had some beautiful stops. We fed some wild birds, and drove and looked at koala's - and one actually was doing something for once not just being a ball of bum in the tree. He came down the tree and sat eating the leaves on the ground about 1m from us so that was exciting. We also walked through the otway rainforest, saw lord ard gorge (where the lord ard wrecked with only 2 survivors), the razor back and pancake rocks and finally with fish and chips sat and watched the sunset at the 12 apostles. Thank goodness we could sleep on the way back!
Tonight we are going to Joann Clunies'ross' restaurant for dinner.
Love from the place where Jen and alex arrive in 2 days,
Mel and stu x
