We have had a lovely time at Lo and Richard's anmd are sad to be leaving especially as it means packing everything back into rucksacks.
We finally managed to be around in a place for long enough to attend a quiz night (stu had been waiting for a while). We were fueled with lots of smarties (and called ourselves the smarties) and managed to get quite a few questions right including the exchange rate for mexical pesos (not surprisingly) and the author of Lord of the Flies. We were in 2nd place throughout but unfortunately the bonus round caught us out (geography) and we fell to third.
However we were given brownies at half time so i thought it was worth it!
We had a windy afternoon at the zoo where we saw very cute red pandas and some rampant gorillas. To warm up we had hot chocoolate and chocolate fish (a NZ thing!)
We took a tour around Parliament with Becca (Lo's niece) and so I probably know more about NZ politics than British. We had chinese before taking the very exciting cable car ride to the top of Wellington - where the excitement increased as we walked around the Cable Car Museum - and then around the Botanical Gardens. Having aged 40 years we felt we should return back to Lo's. Stu did however have fun with the human sundial (and surprisingly the sun was actually out!).
Tomorrow we head over on the ferry to the South Island for a week with distant relatives who I hope will be able to explain how they are related to me!
From the country that has chocolate fish,
mel and Stu x
