Vientiane was pretty lame compared to the rest of Laos, there werent taht much to do there apart from go to the buddha park, which is what we did on our second day. We hired motorbikes and drove down there, it was like 25km away from Vientiane. Its a really nice place, its pretty new, bout 50 years old and it consists of statues of buddha and other hindu gods.
Apart from this and getting our cambodian visas we didnt do much in this city apart from eat!!! the pancakes we had here at the parlar were soooooooooo good!!! never had any like that, they had condensed milk on them yum!
From vientiane we took an over night bus to Pakse, which is down south of Laos and from there went to the 4000 islands which is where the mekong river splits into different channels and islands....
We spent two days here on don det and hired oiut bikes and went cycling around the island and went to see the biggest waterfall 'in volume' in se asia. there wasnt electricity on the island until from 6pm -10pm which kinda sucked coz it was toooo hot...but it was nice to chill out on the hammock and read...we also found this reggae bar, which were selling interesting 'happy' foods...lol...wont get into that! From here we left for phnom phen at 8am.................and this was the worse journey yet!!! read the phnom phen blog for more details!!! x x x
