Today was amazing! We walked the rim walk of Kings Canyon. It is about 7km long and took about 3.5 hours (including a few snack stops and lunch). At the start of the walk we had to climb approx 500 steps (this took us up about 100m!) The walk took us around the top of the Canyon wall, it was spectacular and terrifiying being on the edge of the cliff. We headed off to Kings Canyon. We stopped at Kings Creek Station for a bite of lunch - there was a camel there, so the kids patted it. We set up and then the kids decided it was warm enough for a swim (weather was sunny, around 28 degrees). They soon found out the water was freezing, so the swim didn't last long, but refreshed everyone. We had sunset drinks and watched the rocks change colour as the sun went down.

Today was a rest day - we stocked up on supplies for the next few days (heading to Kings Canyon and maybe Palm Valley). Rested and relaxed, lots of colouring in, puzzles and reading. Went to the pub for a drink!

Today we walked the 7.4km track in Kata Tjuta (The Olgas). It was amazing. The path was extremely rocky and we went up and down through the rocks. We saw waterfalls and creeks (with big fat tadpoles) - the kids loved filling up their hats with the creek water and tipping it over their heads. Today was very tiring and interesting - we walked the base of Uluru. We woke up at 8am and left at about 11am. When we got there, we started by looking at all the caves and the painting on the rock. We saw Kanju Gorge which is full of sacred water to aboriginals. To walk the base of Uluru it is 10.6km. Do you know how many laps of the school running track this is??
