Today a man visited the park with a black headed python. We got to pat it and it felt cold and slimy. We learnt about what they eat and where they live.
Then we went for a drive into Darwin. We walked along the wharf and went to the Darwin bombing and Royal Flying Doctors Service Museum. We got to use virtual reality head sets to show us what it was like on the day of the bombing - 19th Feb, 1942. This was really cool.
Then we read some information about famous people from the bombing of Darwin, such as John Curtin (Prime Minister at the time), Sgt. Grant of the US Navy (a hero of the war), and also a Japenese Prisoner (the first to be caught on Australian soil).
Then we watched a hologram on Sgt. Grant. It was about his ship and about how they steered it away from the bombs and shot down some of the Japanese planes.
Also at the same place we learnt about the Royal Flying Doctors Service and John Flynn who started the service. There was a plane there and we could go in and look around. The RFDS was started with camels, then a car and finally up graded to a plane as the technology was available.
