Denver
For the last few days we stayed with my cousin Jorgen Jensen in Denver Colorado. It sure was good to meet up with family and get a chance to spend time talking, sharing and making memories. Jorgen has a great apartment which is in the old downtown section of Denver. He took us for a walk around the neighbourhood to see the original train station, Coors Field, (which is home the the Colorado Rockies baseball team!) and a very nice renovated old part of town. Jorgen was quite passionate to show us his neighbourhood, as he spends some of his volunteer time working on a board to improve and preserve the downtown area! Well done Jorgen!
Before we got to Denver however, we stopped in Grand Junction to see a dinosaur museum for Jonah. This part of the country is where alot of dinosaur bones have been unearthed. Jonah and all of us enjoyed the museum.
We then headed across Colorado. When we got to Veil, we ran into quite a snow storm traveling through the Rockies. We were enjoying the drive, when all of a sudden it started to snow quite heavily! It started to mount up on the windscreen and the road, which was making us nervous being on slippery steep mountain roads in an RV! We took it slow and safely made it to Denver!
We also spent some time going to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. This was a fantastic museum filled with many items which also included hands on, and interactive displays. We loved it.
Denver is a beautiful city and we greatly appreciated Jorgen's hospitality.
We are now headed to Custer, South Dakota. Our plans have changed due to forcasted snow for the next 4 days in Yellowstone National Park. Some of the roads are closed due to the snow and very cold temperatures, so we wouldn't enjoy it at all. We are disappointed that we can't make it to Yellowstone, but we are looking forward to spending more time in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
