So these are the last few hours in Africa... it simply breaks my heart. This continent gets under your skin. I spent only 4 months here but it seems so wrong to leave.
I loved travelling around Africa but I enjoyed even more working and living with Africans. At the beginning I found it a bit frustrating as they definitely do not bother with efficiency, but then I really enjoyed their much more human way of working and living.
Africans are truly wonderful human beings, genuinely kind and warm. What you mostly hear here is "you're welcome, welcome to my country" or when they are eating "you're invited!". But probably the most common ones are "I want to be your friend, can we be friends?" and "we are one".
I spent the last week travelling around Ghana, from the Volta region to the East Coast and everybody I found on my way took good care of me. Being a female traveller helped I suppose, they did not really understand why there was no caring husband with me, so they did all they could to make me feel looked after. How sweet.
What else can I say? This first leg of my round the world trip has been so intense that it's hard to believe that what comes next will be as exciting, but hey fingers crossed...
