Its currently about 3pm local time here in Thailand, we have moved to another side of the island and are in a beautiful place called Thong Nai Pan for a couple of nights. Its beautifully secluded and so quiet which is perfect considering how hectic the run up to and the actually full moon party was. Its the 21st today and the last time I put on something was the 18th so I'll try to remember what exactly has gone on!
The full moon was unbelievable, its estimated about 25,000 people attend and I wouldn't be surprised if it was more as the beach is packed for about a mile length. First of all everyone made it through it one piece which is always a relief because even though there is so much fun to be had the amount of horror stories you hear from these events means that caution is key. That being said people still definitely hit the drinks.
It was the 6 of us + Ollie and Tom (who are currently doing their visa run to Burma) + some of the people Ollie and Tom knew from travelling. Along with this we saw Emma which was nice + various other people we knew from back home. All in all we did very well to see as many people as we did as it was an absoloutely piece of piss to get lost there. I unfortunately wasn't feeling too well so I retired at a 'civilised' and 'early' 7am but as I understand it most of the rest of the team kept going until the sun came up which was as good effort considering the last 2 nights as well.
Predictably the next day was a massive write-off and personally I didn't get out of bed until about 6pm. However this was more likely down to the fact that I had got slightly dehyrated and my body was not enjoying it. That night we all went for a meal at about 11pm but I couldn't stomach anything and unfortunately had to come home again to try and catch up on the sleep.
Yesterday we arrived at Thong Nai Pan and got two triple rooms in what can only be described as paradise. We arrived about 2pm and got into the rooms about 3. We spent the afternoon on the beach and in the beautiful water before having an early dinner to see Mckee and Ollie off on their visa run. Last I checked their travel was something like boat, bus, coach, boat, minibus, coach boat?! The first boat being overnight was I can imagine was not the best thing.
The rest of the evening was spent chilling on the deck of one our hut type things and enjoying cocktails and the view. Tom decided to KO himself by like 11pm and announced he was going for a nap please wake him up in an hour. However after trying to wake him up like 6 times all we got was him mummering 'full moon' and no chance of waking him!
Charlie, Emily, James and myself stayed up a bit later and it all got a bit DMC but eventually that passed and a swim in the sea was on the cards. I hadn't been drinking much due to the fact I still wasn't feeling well and watched the other 3 swim! On the way back I believe Glads and Emily argued with a married couple... still not sure on that story to be honest. I headed to bed and the others stayed up for a bit but soon went to bed apart from Emily who stayed up till 5am... alone..!
Today has been massively chilled as well and we've all been enjoying ourselves. If all goes to plan Ollie and Tom will be back around 8pm tonight so looking forward to that. I'm currently gettin the England game updated on BBC sport and it reads New Zealand 20 England 0 - 28 mins kinda glad I'm not watching it now!
