Today was our last full day on Koh Phi-Phi! We've been here for 3 nights already and enjoyed our time. Yet again, Koh Phi-Phi is so different from the other islands we have stayed on. As you can walk from one side of the island to the other, there are no cars or motorbikes. A 'taxi service' consists of a Thai guy putting your luggage in a giant wheelbarrow type thing and shouting 'Phi Phi' as his horn. Koh Phi-Phi is dominated by westerners so it feels a bit more like home. The beach is gorgeous with the warmest water we've felt yet, like a bath - not the most refreshing in this heat!
We've spent lots of time on the beach playing frisbee and for Valentine's Day we had a nice Italian meal with 50baht (£1) daiquiris. We also found a fab western place called Breakers to enjoy a full English, with proper back bacon and PG Tips tea (the first we've had since we've been travelling)!
Yesterday we did a full day snorkelling trip around Koh Phi-Phi Lai. There was 28 of us crammed in a traditional Thai long tail boat so it was a bit of a pain getting on and off at each spot but it was bearable. We started at Shark Point where we jumped in and explored with our snorkels. The fish were crazy, surrounding us to the point it was a bit weird! Unfortunately we didn't see any reef sharks but we didn't expect to as they only really come out at sunrise and sunset.
Next stops were Bamboo Island, for an hour of sunbathing and picture taking, and Mosquito Island, for some more snorkelling. We disagree with the long tails boats going so close to the coral and scraping along it, it's such a shame - we'd have been happy to swim to the coral from further out.
After this we stopped at Monkey Beach. In contrast to Monkey Island in Vietnam, it was sad to see so many tourists taunting the monkeys and the monkeys getting really angry and chasing people into the sea.
Next - the big one! We had an hour at Maya Bay, 'The Beach' beach. It certainly lived up to expectations in terms of scenery and wasn't as busy as we thought. It was an overcast day so wasn't too hot.
Final stops included the Blue Lagoon, you've guessed it - the bluest water ever, and Viking Cave. We got back around 7.30pm.
Today we walked up to the Viewpoint, which had views almost as spectacular as the one on Koh Tao. Tonight we headed out for a cheeky Cocktail bucket and to watch the amazing fire show on the beach.
Tomorrow morning we're getting our last ferry (for a while) to Phuket, the largest of all the Thai Islands.
