Today is April 1st, and I've just sent off my play application to KDC that involves 5,000 of my holiday photos and an epic dramatic portrayal of my travels, along with dancing and music from a random Nepalese band. I'm pretty sure they'll see through it, though I reckon it's a genuine money spinner...
Actually it seems they were quite interested and knowing me there's some way I'll end up putting the story of my travels on stage at some point. Self indulgence for the whole world to see. Wonderful!
Yet again John-Grégoire and Elise proved to be amazing hosts! A good round of fish and chips and cake after I'd done my ferry journey (and wandered around Wellington speaking to tramps and getting lost at a bus station).
This time my only full day was on a Saturday when they both had time off, so I joined them for a day of biking around Eastbourne (the other side of the main bay). This was after Elise had cooked me a proper Canadian breakfast of pancakes with maple syrup and fruit! I was beginning to think I was making a mistake leaving so soon! Anyway, I hired a bike from a bloke who didn't even know how to oil a chain, but he only charged me two hours for a three hour plus bike hire. It was fun, though uncomfortable, and there was hardly any wind and lots of sun! What happened to the real Wellington? I made a mental note to buy some padded cycling shorts for my bike in London...
The rest of the evening I spent having roast chicken with JG and Elise, followed by chocolate cake. I'm being spoiled! As if it couldn't be more cushy, even the NZ government are helping me out by giving me an extra hour to sleep tonight. It's the end of summer time. At least for nine days!
