We only spent two nights in Phnom Peng, capital of Cambodia. The City is vast and very hectic. We stayed on the top floor of our geusthouse which made for excellent people watching from the balcony 4 stories up. We went to the Royal Palace but were unable to go in as it was the election day in Cambodia for regional government - also meaning that we couldn't buy beer in the supermarket!
We spent the first night on the river front which was quite picturesque and the following day it rained so we had an early night in preparation of our travels to Sihanoukville the following morning. Apart from the area we were staying in the rest of Phnom Penh was made difficult to get about on foot as people park their cars and motorbikes on the pavement so you are forced to walk on the busy, often dirty, city centre roads. On the plus side the food was really good and extremely cheap again!
Overall, not very spectacular, perhaps because we had such a good time with the friendly Cambodians in Battambang it was strange being in a city again, we left looking forward to chilling on the beach once again!
