We stayed in a Motel 6 just outside Portland and it was only a short drive into town. Portland seemed to be a much nicer place and we found a square to sit in and enjoy the sun and live music they had playing. We even found the hotel that was mentioned in Mel's Fifty Shades of Grey book as that was set in Portland. After a nice few hours in Portland we headed west to the coast road to make our way to San Francisco. Its a very picturesque coast line and there was a weird bank of cloud just off shore which kept blowing inland periodically. We made it as far as Coos Bay where we stayed for the night.
