Heya,

After our flight from Sydney we were met by another of Rachael's family friends, Annie who we stayed with for 5 days. After getting settled in and being introduced to AFL (Aussie Rules Football) we were given a tour of the city by Annie which was great. Annie's son David took us down the road for a few drinks and then we headed back after a trip to a local burger shop, Danny's. The next day Annie drove us to the Great Ocesan Road which was cool but the bad weather meant we had to turn back after getting there. Believe us it rains in Australia! Once we got home we arranged to meet Matt's cousin Aaron and his girlfriend Amanda who live in Melbourne. We met up in the city and went for a chinese, to the casino and then back on the tram to Annies with another stop at Dannys burger shop again. The whole of our next day was spent on a coach trip to Phillip Island which is famous for its pengin colonies which come out of the sea after sunset. There was a grandstand where everybody could watch them under floodlights come out of the sea and back to their nests. (really cute! they were so small). The trip there was good as we visited an animal sanctuary and a vineyard where we did some wine tasting. The animal sanctuary was good as we were able to feed most of the animals and Rachael finally had some alone time with the Koalas. We met up with Aaron and Amanda again in the day for some lunch and some shopping and then went back to Annies for some dinner as we had to get up early for our flight to Christchurch and our new country, New Zealand.
