Heya,
We arrived in Queenstown in the afternoon and checked into a Youth Hostel which is right on the lake. We had a walk around in the evening and went food shopping aain! so that we could have some dinner . Most of the hostels have kitchens so its been easy to cook around new zealand. The next day we left early for our trip to Milford Sound. We stopped off on our three hour journey at a chasm and finally boarded our boat which took us around the milford sound area and out to sea. The scenery was amazing, theres waterfalls everywhere and mountains on every side and then you go out into the ocean. After our buffet lunch which we made the most of we headed back to our hostel in Queenstown. Queenstown's a really nice place its full of things to do, you can go skiing or snowboarding in the nearby mountains or do some activities on the lake. The day after our trip it didnt stop raining so we just wondered the town and went to a few cafe's before going out in the evening. We went to a restaurant that we had heard about called The Cow which is an old italian restaurant set in an old cow shed with the nicest food. The garlic bread was a whole loaf! After stuffing ourselves we headed back as we had to be up at 6 the next day. We had to be up early as we had to pick up our ski equipment and get on a coach which took us up and out of Queenstown to the Remarkables resort. Rach had two lessons and was able to turn by the end of the day whilst Matt explored the peaks. The snow was great and the runs were empty so you were free to ski hassle free. We returned in the afternoon shattered to go for our 5 dollar meal at BASE backpackers. The day after we head to Christchurch for a couple of days before making our way up towards the North Island.
Hope everyone is well,
Rach and Matt x
