We arrived in Christchurch late so only had time to check into out hostel called the jailhouse and then went for dinner and watched an all black v tonga rugby match in the local bar. Our hostel is a converted jail which closed in the 90's so we spent a night in a cell which was so weird. All the facilities were the same like the toilets, showers and the gym. Our cell was small, we had a bunk bed and a mirror and the doors were the same so we had to bolt lock them. But we have changed, honest! The next day we went into the town centre to get on our new bus called the KIWIExperience which is proving to be a bit better than the OZExperience. Our trip was accross the south island to a place called Westport where we stayed a night. We passed through the Southern Alps so we saw alot of snow, infact it rained and snowed and rained and snowed all the way there. Westport is a one street town so there wasn't much to do so we cooked dinner and watched telly all night. Our trip goes around the whole of the south island back up to Christchurch and then we tour the North Island by taking the ferry from Picton to Wellington.
Our coach trip the next day stopped along the way to see a seal colony and some blow holes at a place called Pancake rocks. We stayed that night at the poo pub, in a place called Manipuhua, you stay the night there and about 25 of us had to fancy dress to the letter S. After some shopping in Greymouth for some costumes we ended up as a soldier and a scouser. It was a really good night, we had a game of beach football, BBQ and loads of drinking games.
BTW.. New Zealand is stunning!
