So, I think we left by saying we were getting the overnight train to Surat Thani. We did this and it was an experience. Mostly fun but not too much sleep was had (not for the reason some of you might be thinking)! We thought once we reached Surat Thani that we would hop on a 10 min bus to the port where another few minute boat ride would take us to Ko Samui. This turned out to be a 2 and a half hour bus journey followed by a 2 hour boat trip followed by a 20 min taxi to our resort! This cost us about 10 quid each so we couldn't complain.
Our resort is really nice, located between the two major towns on the island. We have exhausted the local dishes however which seem to all include some form of rice and egg. We managed to get out and see some of the island yesterday starting with what they call the Grandfather and Grandmother rocks. You will see from the photos why they call them this. Later we went to see the Na Muang waterfall. An elephant kindly took us half way but he got tired so we walked the rest up the steep slope. We managed to get chauffered by a taxi driver who took us from place to place and waited for us in between for a hagled price of under 10 quid - Ron, you would be proud!
Later we chilled out on our beach and witnessed some coconut picking. The monkey up the palm tree seemed to work a lot harder than its boss shouting orders from beneath. At night we went to Chaweng which is the main town. We must have walked for about an hour and still didn't get to the end of the bars and restaurants on the beach. We sat down for a drink and Matt got beaten by a 7yr old local hustler at connect 4. He declined the invitation of double or quits!
Its our last night on Samui so we are off to Phagnan tomorrow hopefully to do a bit of diving at the Ang Thong National Marine park. Bye everyone xxx
