Alain and Loan

This evening we met up with Alain and Loan again outside the mall in front of the Petronas Towers. (The Petronas Towers are the second tallest skyscrapers in the world behind 'Taipei 101' in Taiwan.) It all started in a very civilised way as we sat in a bar and ordered a bottle of wine. Alain wanted to share his recent purchases with us; in fact these purchases were apparently one of the main reasons this was their fourth trip to KL. Underwear. Reasonably harmless we thought, he said this underwear was the best he had ever purchased and he could not find anything of even a similar quality or style anywhere else. He proceeded to explain how this was the coolest most comfortable underwear he had ever experienced. He then reached into his bag and pulled out a box; he then reached into the box and pulled out what can only be described as a pouch and an elastic band which he then, much to our, and not forgetting we were in a very public place, other diners horror / amusement / disbelief proceeded to put over his head while Loan was whispering to me how they were very good 'if you know what I mean wink, wink'. Ahem, no I don't thanks. Anyway, Alain found this all very funny then took them off his head, put them away and proceeded to strike up a very serious conversation about politics or some such topic. Anyway, they are a lovely couple and we ended up going to Chinatown with them for Chinese fondue - a vat of hot water in the middle of the table into which you dunk and cook skewers of food. At the end of the night we exchanged e-mail addresses. With a friend in Yellowknife, my Auntie Jeanine and Uncle John hoping to move to Winnipeg in the not too distant future and Alain and Loan in Montreal, it could make for quite a good trip at some point!!
