Hello all. I am in koh samui at the mo which is a small island just off the thai mainland. We spent monday and tuesday at khao sok national park which was amazing. It was hard to believe that it could be part of the same country as Bangkok. We stayed in tree houses in the jungle next to an amazing river and spent most of our time on a rope swing jumping into the water. On tuesday we went down to the river and saw loads of monkeys jumping of trees into the water, it was amazing, especially joining them in the water!
We took a ferry across to koh samui yesterday. It didnt seem that sunny when we got on the boat and wasnt very hot so nobody even considered putting sun screen on, especially as we were only going to be on the boat for just over an hour. That was definately a bad move, we didnt anticipate the sun being so strong. Due to really painful sunburn on my face and arms i could hardly sleep at all last night and am also having to sit inside an internet cafe at half twelve to avoid getting burnt again! Apart from being sunburnt, which always gets me angry, i have enjoyed being here. The scenery is fantastic although a little tainted by countless bars and restaurants along the sea front. Koh samui is the biggest tourist spot in thailand and the place is literally packed with tourists, of which 98% are german, unsuprisingly. We went out last night and walked past a lady boy caberet show, being very drunk Jim got pulled in, taken back stage and made to put a dress and wig on. It was pretty funny, he really got into it.
We are going to Koh tao tomorrow which is much less inhabited, only 700 people live there. It is also the best diving and snorkelling spot in Thailand so im really looking forward to it. It is our last new destination in Thailand as we are spending four days there and getting back to Bangkok on tuesday, ready for our flight to Sydney on wednesday afternoon. Ill update again from Bangkok.
Sorry about not having many photos, im going out to take some more after leaving the cafe'! Thanks for all your messages! Hi Dani, im looking forward to seeing some Italian elephants, i will be expecting them when we get over to your house! speak to you all soon, take care x
