Mary's Travels
We woke up to a hot breakfast already made for us! It was wonderful. We got dressed and went to the Forks and shopped a bit, then we headed to the Exchange District, a hip newly renovated part of town. They have free concerts every Monday at noon, so we hit that up and it ended up being very good! The band was a mix between folk and jazz and they were on their game! Afterwards we went to a poutinerie and got traditional poutine- fries with cheese crumbles and a specific Canadian gravy on top. I felt like I was going to have a heart attack afterwards but it was good. We learned about it in French class, so it was even cooler for me. Then we ate lunch in the park and enjoyed the beautiful weather. After that we walked around the shops down there. They were all vintage and/or expensive boutique, but they were cool to see. When we got tired, we went back to the hotel and got ready for a dinner at the forks. Julia, Sara, and I got crêpes, and they were very good and very filling. Then we rushed back to the Cube (same place where we saw the concert) where we took a swing dancing class. It was fun to just dance around in the park. We picked up some good moves if I do say so myself. We decided tonight was our crazy night so we went through roughly a million plans on how and where to get drunk, it actually took five hours of bickering to get to something. We finally just coughed up the money for a bar, Bailey's, and got double frou frou drinks (some quadruple haha). It was fun, we all sat at the bar like old men and drank together and talked. Then we hit up our main event of the evening, Whiskey Dix, a club that had a rage on Monday nights. Luckily there were many teenagers there and the wait to get in wasn't bad. It was amazing. We walked in and there are people everywhere dancing (and drinking). We pushed ourselves to the very front and danced on the stage. Annie did a lot of dancing on the stage haha the people loved her, but no USA chants this time. After a while she felt sick, so she calmed down for a bit. Some others took some more shots when we got there but they were fine. We had a ton of fun dancing together up front, and we stayed there the whole night. Around 1:45, we decided to leave, so we embarked on the trek back home, which wasn't bad at all. We got more catcallers in the evening than we did at the wee hours of the night. We peed in the lobby bathrooms, trying to reduce the amount of noise we make when we got back to the room. We got off the elevator, took off our shoes, and crept down the hallway, not saying one word so as to not wake up Mr. Keiter. After a little talking and giggling, we all fell asleep to the French TV station I put on. All in all it was a night of amazing firsts.
