This morning dawns a bit overcast but it hasn't deterred the birdsong wich has been a feature of this trip so far and when we leave at 10:00 it is already 28C. We retrace our route from last Wenesday, but it looks less spectacular in the cloud and haze, and head down the gravel road into Trpanj to catch the 11:30 ferry back to Ploce. We are all up early and leave the site at 10:00 to drive to nearby Orebic and buy our ferry tickets [156Kuna] All along the harbour small cafes and restaurants are covered in bougainvillea. The ferry arrives, we board and sail for 15 minutes to Korcula, capital of the like-named island. It's a short drive from the port, over a hill and down into the old town, where we find a car park. We've reached our turning point. Leaving the site we follow Dubrovnk's circuitous traffic system, passing the cruise terminal with two huge cruise ships, and climbing up to the suspension bridge from where we can see the site and beach across the harbour. The roads are far less busy as we retrace our route from Thursday, the sun is bright and we are fresher so can enjoy this spectacular coast again. We watch the temperature rise to 28 as we are getting to go into the Old Town at Dubrovnik. N+G set off on their motorbike and we ask reception to call us a taxi, which arrives in a few minutes. The temperature is already 29C when we check out at 10:45 and head back up the D8 to Ploce. We are stuck behind a tractor for a few miles which means we are going slow enough for a good look around. There is no haze this morning and the sea is shimmering blue. The tractor eventually lets everything pass and we get to the ferry terminal that takes us to Trpanj on the spit of land called Pelijesac.
