So for those of you have been wondering if I'm okay....yes, I made it. However, you might have heard about the flooding and landslides over here. Apparently, there is a video you can watch. I read a little bit about it and it is not sounding good. It happened in Cusco/Machu Picchu area, which is where I am suppose to be headed for my volunteer work. As of now...I don't know that is going to happen. My contacts in CR are trying to reach my contact here in Peru to find out whether it is even safe or worth it for me to fly over there. I don't even know if they are allowing flights right now-I know buses aren't for sure and as of last night the aiport was not sure if they would today. What a bummer! I have a bag full of toys for kids and I really wanted to see the Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail! :(

Anyway, I am in Lima/Miraflores area right now. I haven't seen much as I didn't get in until almost mignight. I couldn't sleep again until about 5 am so I barely woke up around 1pm. Why? I don't know since I only slept an hour the night before! It seems to be a decent area...some parts remind me of the nicer areas in Juarez for those El Paso people reading this. Apparently-Lima is not safe and Miraflores, which is where I am staying, is a little more upper class. I only stayed here because I read reviews on hotels and Lima scared me!!!!!!! At some point I will make my way to the Beach and tonight my hotel is giving me free drinks so that's always a plus:).

Well, I'll keep everyone posted on what happens!
