Met up with Pete and Ros in Hong Kong for 3 days. It's a public holiday on May 1, International Labour Day, and Hong Kong is packed. We took the tram to Victoria Peak and walked around the gardens, resisting the temptation to visit Madam Tussauds.
On day 2 we took a bus to Stanley, through the mountain and out the other side where there are sandy beaches and high rise holiday resorts. We watched a dragon boat and had a lazy lunch at a beach bar before the 20 min bus ride back to the city.
Day 3 we found another market to wander round, then Kowloon park which is a green oasis in the centre of the city. We've been lucky with the weather. Thunderstorms have been forecast for each day but haven't arrived. We've travelled by tram, metro, taxi and ferry and of course on foot. The place is one great big shopping mall, with markets set up in the gaps between skyscrapers. The view over the city and harbour was amazing, even through the low cloud. There are several islands that we could have visited but we found plenty to do without travelling far. Tomorrow evening we will be back in Woodley, adventure over.
