Our first full day in India and it's a holiday to remember Ghandi's birthday. The roads are quieter and Andy commented it's National Car Washing Day. The school over the road from Ros and Pete's flat is having a party and a procession of one lorry, decorated and with loud music blaring, has just gone past. Last night there was heavy rain so the streets are clean now.
Even on a holiday, the maid has been to swish the floors with a palm whisk in the flat. Ros would rather not have a maid but it comes with the rent, and means she can't go out until the maid has called.
