A 350km ride takes me to St Johns and I arrive mid afternoon. The hostel recommended by the Lonely Planet has shut down but the guy living there offers me a room to stay. I respectfully decline as it's a dive and after a few days camping I'm eager to get clean and also meet a few other travelers. I know of another hostel and go to check it out. I check in for three days and immediately meet Isaac, Jackie and David. The George Street Festival is in full swing and we head into town to catch a few shows.
