Another fine day in Tassie had, although still adjusting to the weather. Amanda keeps saying how lovely it is and l keep thinking 'how bloody cold it is!'....
Anyhow, really enjoying our time with the Woods again, doesn't feel like six weeks since we saw them in Townsville. Glad to see we're all the same and that the friendship will last on. We are parting with them tomorrow, so last day of fun together for a little while.
Today we're off past Sheffield to Tasmazia for a bit of child like fun, it's home to the World's Largest maze & the Village of Lower Crackpot ... a little built town of shops and buildings. The kids will definitely have fun today! The drive was again glorious and we got a brilliant glimpse of Mt Roland. I know l keep saying this but Tasmania has the best landscapes and everyone must come here at some point during their life, it's like no other land in Australia!! Anyway we started off by buying our tickets with Amanda then asking for a map just in case we get lost!! OMG, l definitely took the piss out of her for this!! It takes away from the fun of a maze if you have a map doesn't it?? Anyway, we started the maze and made it to the Village of Little Crackpot. It was great fun and the little village was quirky, quite cool really. The kids were all excited pointing and yelling at this and that that they'd found. Great to see them happy and doing what kids do best, being kids!! We then took another maze and then another, doing quite well really. There were a few fun things found along the way, one being a toilet mounted on a rock which all the kids and even Marty got up and sat on for photos to be taken, however Marty was this only one to put an expression on his face like he was going to the toilet, lol! There was also an old age stock where we put Marty's head and hands thru and Amanda proceeded to pretend not to let him out, when Meg then started to cry and we had to settle her down. When will she cotton onto Amanda's sense of humour or when will Amanda stop tormenting Meg??? Lol...
We then stopped for lunch and had a picnic of salad wraps out the front. After this we headed in for one last maze, the biggest and to find the 'The three Teddy's Bear Cottage'. Sounds fun doesn't it? We thought so too, but after going around in circles for half an hour we weren't taking the piss out of Amanda anymore wanting a map!! When we were just about to give up l saw the cottage thru the bushes and yelled out to a little girl to give us instructions. She yelled them back and we started moving when next minute the little girl comes running around the corner to bring us to the cottage personally.. Now how's that...three adults and four kids couldn't find it and had to be helped by an eight year old. The kids didn't care, they had fun looking thru the little bear cottage. We rewarded her with some of Amanda's jelly beans and then after a little while made our way out the maze. We headed back to Devonport after this to get tea organised, we were heading out for a BBQ at Narawntapu National Park.
We didn't quite know what to expect when we got to Narawntapu NP except that Amanda had said there was plenty of wildlife around. So when l saw wallabies l wasn't that excited, then l saw a big bloody wombat!! Now l was excited. Never had we seen wild wombats, only in zoo's. We were able to get within a meter from them. They are so cute, but had to remember that they are very aggressive too..so did try to keep my distance. We met Amanda and Marks friends and their kids for tea. Had a great time and was definitely worth the drive to get there. With the sun setting we set off with our torches and went for a walk to find heaps of wallabies and wombats on 'the tassie savannah' as Amanda describes it... At 9pm we call it a night, it was bloody freezing and head back to Devonport before , not before pulling up on the side of the road to check to Wood's bumper as Amanda had run into three bloody wallabies not even two km's up the road!! Probably should have driven in front seeing we had the bull bar, but oh well, all was fine and we got home just fine. Another fantastic day had with good company!!!
Bloody back to the tent tomorrow for the first time since Cape York, pity the weather isn't a little warmer and are a little concerned with forecasted rain ahead. Experiences to be had l suppose......
