I felt somewhat of a modern day explorer, carving my way through the ice... no not really, the guide let me have a quick go to pose for a shot, but what an adventure! Felt also a bit like Jezza from Top Gear as they battled their way to the North Pole!
We set off just after lunch and headed out on a 3KM walk to the foot of the glacier, where we strapped on our crampons, or Talons as these were called! And headed up the ice!
It was absolutely fantastic, and quite an experience, climbing through crevases (not sure of the spelling, but you know what I mean... ) Got some amazing views of the valley and saw all kinds of glacial formations! Learnt alot about them from GCSE Geography, but to be climbing one of only 3 in the world was quite something! I'm pretty knackered out right now, but made some great friends along the ice!
Tomorrow morning I head to the adventure capital, who knows what i'll get upto there, its also notorious for its partying, and guess what its Friday night, so would be rude not too!
See you in the Adventure Capital, Queenstown!
